Dr. Engin Arik, Chairman of the Board, President and CEO, received his Masters and Doctorate degrees in Engineering from Harvard University. His other degrees include a Diploma (post-Master’s degree) from von Karman Institute in Belgium, and two undergraduate degrees in Engineering and Economics from Brown University. He brings to Luminit vast experience in building long-term relationships with commercial and government customers, strategic technology partners, and vendors. He has over three decades of experience in technology company management with P&L responsibility, holding positions of CEO, Chairman of the Board, Board Member, General Manager, Executive VP, VP of Business Development, and Department Manager. Dr. Arik has travelled extensively for business throughout the United States, plus Europe, the Middle-East, and the Far East. He has lived and worked in Germany and Switzerland, and studied in US and Belgium. Dr. Arik is conversant in French and German, in addition to his native tongue Turkish. He is the author and co-author of many published papers, book chapters, and patents; he has been invited to lecture throughout the world and was an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. At Luminit, Dr. Arik continues to build on his successful business and scientific career covering optics, laser and imaging based diagnostic instrumentation, fiber optics, micro sensor, and dynamic flow measurement systems. He successfully led the 2005 launch of Luminit as a spin-off of Physical Optics Corporation, and then completed a technology licensing agreement with Asahi Kasei Corporation of Japan that has paved the way for Luminit’s continued growth. Under the leadership of Dr. Arik and his Management Team, Luminit has been a profitable and growing company since its founding.    

 

 

Ed Kaiser

Ed  Kaiser received his MS in Chemistry from Ohio State University and has an accomplished record of improving efficiencies and profits in a variety of manufacturing industries. Prior to joining Luminit, Mr. Kaiser developed new product lines for super-abrasives in aerospace applications, and coordinated the deployment of his company’s products in a NATO installation. At Luminit he has been a principal in the development of its new state-of-the-art production facility, and the use of a Microsoft-based manufacturing ERP system, both critical to effective large-scale production. He also directed the ISO 9001:2008 certification program, and was a principal developer of a new, patented seamless replication system.

 

 

Mitch Jansen at Luminit

Dr. Mitch Jansen has over 30 years of global business and technical experience in LED and semiconductor laser components and systems.  He led the development of over 140 new products that generated over $500M in new product revenue. Mitch has 38 patents and has published over 180 technical papers in the areas of LED lighting, laser and micro-LED displays, semiconductor lasers, photonics, solid-state lasers and solar cells. Dr. Jansen co-founded a high-power laser diode company and two management consulting companies and has worked for companies ranging from startups to Fortune 500s. Previous leadership roles include SVP/GM, VP Engineering, COO, CTO and VP Product Development.

Stanley Kao

Stanley Kao received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from UC Irvine and his MS in Mechanical Engineering from UC Pomona. He has over 17 years of engineering project management and new product development experience, with extensive business development experience in Asia Pacific. He joined Physical Optics Corporation in 2004 and was instrumental in the successful launch of Luminit in 2005 Prior to joining POC/Luminit, he managed a variety of projects for technologies such as night goggles, laser range finders and opto-electrical equipment. While at RSI Associates, he developed contract case studies that included fuel cell commercial power generation, system turbine blade fracture analysis, and electrical and hybrid vehicle analysis. At Luminit, he is responsible for new business and product development.  

 

 

Suleyman Turgut

Suleyman Turgut received his Bachelor’s degree in Optical Engineering from the University of Rochester, Master’s degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology and his MBA from USC’s Marshall School. Since joining Luminit in 2006 he has driven the adoption of Luminit’s high performance holographic diffusers into many leading edge lighting and high technology products. Prior to joining Luminit Suleyman has held positions at Intel, ADE (now KLA-Tencor) and IQE.    

   

Josh Hayes

Josh Hayes received his Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration from California State University Dominguez Hills. Before joining Luminit in 2016, Josh served as a Senior Business Analyst at Luminit’s parent company, Physical Optics Corporation (POC).  Before that, he was a Senior Project Analyst at Sierra Nevada Corporation.  Josh has a strong background in project management, business administration, and government contracting.  He has worked in the aerospace, defense, and research industries and oversees Luminit’s finance activities.
