Summary:  Luminit is a leading fine optics company, located in Torrance, CA.  We are looking for a Senior Operations Manager with a primary responsibility to oversee manufacturing operations and set up the new Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP system.  The primary goals for this position are to ship orders on time, meet quality requirements, ensure a stable and safe working production environment and help set up and implement the new ERP system. The position must interact effectively with Sales, Quality, and Manufacturing Engineering and meet Company production goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:  In addition to the general requirements as outlined above, key specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  1. Work with Supply Chain and Manufacturing Engineering to set up the new ERP system from the grounds up, with a focus on the Supply Chain Manufacturing module

  2. Produce and publish Production Reports from the existing ERP system and implement new reports in the new ERP system

  3. Manage the first-line supervisory staff in daily operations

  4. Actively develop and implement training programs as needed

  5. Maintain a stable, safe atmosphere and workplace for all personnel, addressing HR issues if needed

  6. Oversee production schedules to insure the timely completion and delivery of orders

  7. Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to assist in continuous improvement initiatives

  8. Establish a strong and effective working relationship with Sales, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality departments.

  9. Insure compliance to applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations

  10. Work closely with the Maintenance group to maintain all key line equipment and insure smooth production flow with minimum down time

  11. Insure clean room protocols are observed and clean rooms are maintained to required cleanliness levels

  12. Foster clear communications within Operations and maintain a floor presence to maximize productivity and insure procedures are being followed

                                  

Qualifications:  Requires a strong production background, as well as an ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce to oversee existing production and implement new processes in a production environment.  Must have experience in managing first-line supervisors and deploying ERP in Manufacturing.

Education/Experience:   Minimum BS Degree in Industrial Engineering or a technical equivalent, and at least 10 years of manufacturing experience in a diversified and fast-paced atmosphere, ideally showing a progression of responsibilities.  ERP expertise is a must.  Experience or training in relevant principles of Quality, Lean Manufacturing, Program Management, Manufacturing Planning and any appropriate certifications are highly desirable. A six-sigma black belt would be a plus.

Language AbilityFull fluency in written and spoken English required, with proficiency in Spanish a plus.  Strong communications and presentation skills are a must.

Reasoning Ability:   Must have sound and logical reasoning ability, and the ability to deduce root causes and corrective measures for process and quality issues.

IT and Technical Skills:  Requires strong computer skills in technical subjects and presentations.  Must be able to understand basic mechanical drawings and technical data. Strong Microsoft Excel knowledge would be a plus.
