Luminit LLC is a leading provider of fine optics for lighting, automotive, and display applications.  Luminit is looking for a Senior Optical Mastering Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the production of optical masters, is the owner of the production mastering equipment and of the manufacturing process.  He/she will also be involved in cross-functional activities leading to equipment upgrades, process improvements and will support the development of new mastering technologies using the mastering line.

Job Responsibilities

Key specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Oversee production schedules to ensure the timely completion and delivery of orders

  • Manage the first-line supervisory staff in daily operations

  • Actively develop and implement training programs as needed

  • Maintain a stable, safe atmosphere and workplace for all personnel, addressing HR issues if needed

  • Foster clear communications within Mastering and maintain a floor presence to maximize productivity and ensure procedures are being followed

  • Ensure clean room protocols are observed and clean rooms are maintained to required cleanliness levels

  • Work with Supply Chain and Manufacturing Engineering in setting set up the new ERP system with a focus on Mastering

  • Produce and publish Production Reports from the existing ERP system and implement new reports in the new ERP system

  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to assist in continuous improvement initiatives and in developing tooling and automation for process improvements

  • Ensure compliance to applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations

  • Work closely with the Maintenance group to maintain all key line equipment and insure smooth production flow with minimum down time

  • Establish a strong and effective working relationship with Sales, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality departments


  • Requires a strong production background, as well as an ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce to oversee existing production and implement new processes in a production environment.  Must be a team player.

Must have experience in the following areas:

  • Manufacturing in a diversified and fast-paced atmosphere

  • Management of first-line supervisors

  • ERP deployment and use

  • Using lasers and optics, as well as laser safety 

  • Sound and logical reasoning ability, and the ability to deduce root causes and corrective measures for process and quality issues

  • Strong communications and presentation skills

  • Strong computer skills in technical subjects and presentations (MS Office)

The following skills would be highly desirable:

  • Experience in optical recording, processing and replication and/or holography

  • Knowledge of optical recording materials and their properties

  • Close familiarity with process automation for large scale production

  • Metrology and software related to test and measurements used in optical recording

  • Experience or training in relevant principles of Quality, Lean Manufacturing, Program Management, Manufacturing Planning and any appropriate certifications

  •  A six-sigma black belt


B.S. in Optical/ Electrical Engineering or related discipline and 10 years of manufacturing experience in optical recording and replication processes.

Physical Demands 

Moderate physical requirements consistent with spending time on the floor (including clean rooms) with supervisors and production personnel.
