Luminit LLC is a leading provider of micro-optics for lighting, automotive, and display applications.  Luminit is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer who reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

The Manufacturing Engineer’s role requires mastery of all aspects of the manufacturing function. It will require exceptional analytical and organizational skills, results focus, and a clear understanding of the Supply Chain/Manufacturing function in an operational environment.

The position includes interaction with Manufacturing, Sales, Finance, and other company functions to gather requirements, build solutions, resolve issues, and document processes and procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Sustaining existing products and processes in manufacturing

  • Develop tooling and automation for volume manufacturing processes and help qualify and maintain automated equipment

  • Drive changes in the tooling design to allow for improved processes and possible automation

  • Support Manufacturing activities to optimize production in ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics 365) and interface with other Luminit functions

  • Develop product routings, create part numbers, standard costs (BOMs, touch time, yields, etc.) and reports and run data analysis

  • Help transition new products to manufacturing

  • Develop internal manufacturing drawings, tooling, automation, and process documentation

  • Optimization and cost reductions of existing products


  • 5+ years of industry experience in manufacturing engineering in companies focused on consumer electronics, or optical systems is preferred.

  • Proficient with Solidworks (preferred) or other solid modeling required

  • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GDT), tolerance analysis, and FEA

  • Experience in designing tooling and automation for manufacturing

  • Versed in 6 sigma, lean manufacturing concepts, and FMEA

  • Skilled in data analysis and process qualification

  • Experience with ERP systems, Microsoft Dynamics 365 or AX preferred

  • Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders and end users

  • Advanced Microsoft Office technical skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, Project, etc.)


B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline and five years of engineering experience in Manufacturing Engineering.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision. Ability to work in cleanroom environments for extended periods on occasion. Must be able to work with chemicals such as: acetone, alcohol, adhesives, acids, etc.
