Description

Luminit, a fast-growing manufacturer of fine optics, is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to support all QA functions. 

The Quality Assurance Engineer will work within the Quality Department to assist with the activities required to meet quality standards and customer expectations. He/she will produce and analyze quality data, document measurement and manufacturing procedures, and perform root-cause analysis on defective items.

The Quality Assurance Engineer will work with managers and staff throughout the organization to ensure that the quality system is functioning properly. He/she shall help to ensure that the Quality Management System is in compliance with the latest version of ISO 9001 and the customer’s quality requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Producing data and reports to allow Luminit to ensure that customer quality requirements are met

  • Defining quality procedures in conjunction with operating staff

  • Monitoring performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports to advise on the performance of the Quality Management System

  • Working with manufacturing to help establish and maintain a certification program for key manufacturing skills

  • Supporting preparation of first article and production acceptance test procedures to efficiently ensure compliance to contractual requirements.

  • Writing and updating quality assurance procedures

  • Maintaining and improving product quality by investigating customer complaints and helping to develop manufacturing and training methods

  • Performing and developing incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities

  • Assisting with the implementation of Statistical Process Control

  • Reviewing FAI reports prepared by QC technicians

  • Participating in Internal Audits of the Quality Management System

  • Working across the organization to ensure product quality

Required Qualifications

  • BS in a technical field

  • Must be hands-on, organized, proactive and possess a committed work ethic

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, with a focus on data analysis using Excel

  • Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn the use of Statistics software used in manufacturing such as, Minitab, JMP or Win SPC

  • Knowledge and understanding of calibration of measurement devices.

  • Metrology, Measurement Systems Analysis, Process Flow Charts, Control Plans and FMEA

  • Knowledge and understanding of Control Charts, Process Capability and Performance indices, and causes of variation

  • Good written and verbal communication and presentations skills

  • Ability to work in a team environment
