Job Description:

We are seeking a talented, enthusiastic and highly motivated Research and Development Laboratory Technician to join our growing business of curved injection molding for automotive lighting. You will join a diverse research and development staff and help to support the prototyping and production of our new and cutting-edge products for our customers. Our small company atmosphere (<100 employees) specializes in taking on interesting and diverse challenging projects from private and government customers and we are eager to add talent to our exceptional team! A successful candidate has concrete and demonstrable hands on skill working in the Research and development labs.

This Full-time Position reports to the CIM Program Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist engineering and scientific staff

  • Develop test, metrology, imaging, defects database

  • Hands on with handling of products and building or modifying lab set ups

  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of coating equipment

  • Build/test mechanical assemblies from work instructions

  • Conduct incoming, in process and outgoing quality inspections

Education and/or Experience:

General education in electrical and/or mechanical engineering, physics or equivalent proven experience in a similar environment.  Experience is desired but not required.

  • Experience with deposition of photoresist coating

  • Basic computer skills – Email, MS Word, MS Excel.

  • Optical lens handling, alignment, and assembly procedures

  • Familiarity with mechanical assembly alignment

  • Familiarity with benchtop optical prototyping and lasers

  • Use of digital multimeters, micrometers, calipers, microscopes

Language Skills: 

Ability to read and comprehend and write in English.  Ability to read and compose technical descriptions and work instructions, document experimental results, short correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and small group situation superiors and other employees.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
