Luminit LLC is a leading provider of optics for lighting, automotive, and display applications.  Luminit is looking for a Director of Manufacturing Engineering who will take responsibility for transitioning new products to manufacturing and will oversee the optimization and cost reductions of existing products and processes.


Must have in depth knowledge of materials and processes used in optical recording and replication. Expertise in process development, material and vendor selection, process control, SPC, six sigma.  Leadership – both functional and project management experience.  Must have excellent coaching/mentoring skills.  Experience in developing global supply chains.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Transitions new product development from R&D to production

    • Works on development projects to produce new or improved products

    • Coordinates and oversees new production runs

    • Coordinates manufacturing launch of new or revised products

    • Partners with production and engineering areas to conduct technical training and introduce new processes

  • Identify, justify and deliver significant manufacturing continuous improvement and cost reductions.  Works independently and in cross-departmental teams to identify and correct process and material related problems that may occur in production.

    • Analyze manufacturing process flows for continuous improvement opportunities for yields, cost, quality and throughput

    • Provide leadership for lean strategies and activities

    • Evaluates and suggests new processes and materials that may improve product performance, manufacturing processes, and lower product costs.

    • Maintains, updates, and ensures all manufacturing specifications are correct and current and are fully documented.

    • Drives improvements of existing processes and methods in order to improve quality and/or efficiency

    • Investigates new techniques, processes, materials for optical mastering and replication

    • Drives the investments on new initiatives and other changes necessary to improve production efficiency, quality and operational safety

    • Participates in engineering design reviews; evaluates and approves drawings, routings, specifications and other documents

    • Supports all efforts and implementation of ISO


Bachelor’s degree in a chemical or engineering discipline required- Master’s degree preferred.  10+ years of experience in advanced engineering development and manufacturing related to optical recording and replication.  5+ years’ experience in a Director of engineering or Manufacturing role.
