Luminit’s Light Shaping Diffusers (LSD®):
The Path to Energy Star Rating for LED Lighting
The ENERGY STAR is awarded to only certain bulbs or fixtures that meet strict efficiency criteria. To qualify for ENERGY STAR certification, LED lighting products must pass a variety of tests to prove that the products will display the following characteristics:
- Brightness is equal to or greater than existing lighting technologies (incandescent or fluorescent)
- Beam pattern is controlled for the bulb or fixture
- Color Spatial uniformity. The shade of white light appears clear and consistent over time and space.
- Efficiency is as good as or better than fluorescent lighting.
To enable ENERGY STAR ratings, Luminit’s LSDs provide high transmission and precise beam angle control. While bulk diffusers only transmit 60% of the light, Luminit’s LSDs provide up to 92% transmission (approximately 50% more light from the same bulb or fixture). Luminit’s LSDs also allow designers the ability to precisely control beam angle and even do it asymmetrically, that is attain elliptical beam patterns. Luminit's LSDs also homogenize the light to attain color spatial uniformity. Luminit boasts the largest selection of standard off-the-shelf angles for diffusers.
